Professor Noppé has been appointed to the role of CEO by the board of JKTech, the technology-transfer company of the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI).
Professor Noppé brings extensive experience to the role – he is the current Director of SMI’s WH Bryan Mining Geology Research Centre (BRC) and previously held the roles of group chair of SRK Consulting's global board, Managing Director of SRK Consulting (Australasia) as well as the founding Managing Director of Xstract Mining Consultants. He also sits on the AusIMM Board of Directors.
“I am honoured to have been invited to take on the role and I’m excited to work with our teams and partners across JKTech Pty Ltd and SMI-ICE-Chile SpA,” Professor Noppé said.
“I hope to build on JKTech’s strong track record of delivering innovative solutions and training to the global mining and minerals sector."
SMI Director and outgoing JKTech CEO Professor Rick Valenta said Professor Noppé brings unique skills that will help guide JKTech into the future.

Professor Noppé takes up the role as a full-time secondment from the BRC and Associate Professor Anita Parbhakar-Fox will assume the role of acting BRC director from 1 February 2025.
“Mark is an exceptional leader: he’s warm, engaging, and knows how to forge strong relationships with stakeholders, these are fundamental qualities for any CEO to have,” Dr Parbhakar-Fox said.
