Details for JK Webinar: Statistical Analysis

Important note:  Date and time listed are in AEST

Overview:  Metallurgists (mineral engineers) and assay chemists are often required to do experiments and to analyse the results from those experiments. They may range from simple laboratory tests to major plant trials lasting several months and costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. A major challenge in these trials is that mineral processing data is usually imprecise and, especially in the case of plant data, subject to uncontrolled trends, cycles and variations, which make comparisons difficult.

Statistical methods are available to solve these problems. In many instances, the analysis of trial data itself can be straightforward with readily-available tools in common packages such as Microsoft Excel. However, this is entirely dependent on appropriate planning and structuring of the trial so that it conforms to statistical criteria. This webinar is for those who have undertaken a plant trial, only to be confronted with a noisy dataset that leads to confusion and uncertainty. It will provide an overview of common pitfalls in undertaking plant trials, as well as strategies to overcome these challenges so that correct decisions can be made in the shortest possible time and at the lowest possible cost.
