Sizing

JKTech offers mineral processing laboratory services to provide data for improving the efficiency in the mining industry.

Sizing analyses provide useful information on the size distribution of a sample of ore or other material.  They may be required for many reasons, for example:
  • to understand how a mill or other unit operation is working;
  • to work out physical or chemical properties of the sample;
  • in design of new equipment or optimisation of an existing facility.

The information from a sample sizing is only as useful as the quality of the data. Poor data from inaccurate sampling techniques may lead to incorrect conclusions. JKTech can provide assistance with sample collection, preparation of representative subsamples and analysis of results.

Sample Requirements:
Sample size can range from approximately 100 g to several hundred kilograms (depending on the type of sizing required). Drying and sieve sizing is usually conducted in several stages.

Download the Sample Transmission Forms, which include Sample Hazard Advice Form, and Quarantine Declaration Form.  A completed Sample Hazard Advice Form must accompany every sample shipped to JKTech.  In addition, a Quarantine Declaration Form must be completed for every sample originating from outside Australia.

Key Benefits:
  • Sizings conducted on plant survey samples can generate data for JKSimMet simulation software which enables optimisation of plant performance
